What is it?

The world's biggest culinary competition.

In January 1987, Paul Bocuse created the  Bocuse d’Or, a revolutionary gastronomy contest.

Replicating the codes of major sporting events, he imagined a true show placing the emphasis on cooking and on the chefs.

THE IDEA

Bring together 24 young chefs from all over the world, among the most promising talents of their generation, and have them prepare superb dishes within 5 hours 30 minutes, live in front of an enthusiastic audience.

To tell them apart, a jury composed of the most illustrious chefs of the planet.

Beyond a mere cooking contest, the Bocuse d'Or is a show that draws extraordinary media coverage. Many talented chefs have made a name for themselves thanks to the contest, and have promoted their own culinary heritage.

THEME ON PLATE

Candidates will have to come up with a dish around the same seasonal product.

This product must be identifiable both visually and by taste.
It will be served to the 14 members of the jury.

THEME ON A PLATTER

Each of the Bocuse d’Or candidates will have to serve a hot dish on a platter for the members of the jury.
For this 2023 edition, participants will have to work on  seafood products, for the first time since 2005. They will have 5h30 hour to create a recipe based on Monkfish (2 pieces), together with mussels and scallops.

FOCUS ON THE PLATTER

AN XXL PLATTER BY DE BUYER

This is perhaps the most eagerly awaited test of the competition, due to the wealth of techniques required to achieve the final result.

The 24 candidates will have to present the hot dish and its side dishes for 14 people on this huge tray of almost 90 cm.

The unusually large tray is made of polished stainless steel on the inside and outside.

Its mirror-like surface will magnify the products presented by the candidates.

Weighing almost 13 kg, 4 ergonomic handles will allow Chefs to move it easily from the box to the jury.
